Most senior figures of Central HISSAN belong to Kathmandu. I am Prakash Shrestha, currently holding the position of Vice-Principal at Xavier Academy in Lazimpat. It is with great enthusiasm and honor that I share the news of my recent appointment as the President of the Kathmandu Metropolitan HISSAN, marking a historic moment as the first-ever formation of such a committee within HISSAN. This development signifies a crucial step in the ongoing journey of improvement and decentralization within HISSAN, extending from the central and provincial levels down to the district levels and now reaching the local levels.

My selection as the President is a testament to the trust placed in me as a capable leader and an inspiration to all members. Over the next two years, my dedicated team and I are committed to actively working towards the enhancement of the private sector. One of the primary challenges faced by +2 colleges in the Kathmandu metropolitan city is the recent law transforming zero +2 colleges into full-fledged schools spanning from basic to grade 12. I strongly believe there is a need for the local government to extend the deadline for the implementation of this law.

Leveraging my experience as the working treasurer of Kathmandu HISSAN, I emphasize the significance of collaboration between the new leader of HISSAN Kathmandu and the metropolitan committee to effectively move forward. Kathmandu HISSAN is the heart of the entire organization, with past presidents contributing significantly to the welfare of the organization. Therefore, the incoming leader should be dynamic and proactive, advocating for the importance of the private sector and working towards amendments in the new Education Act. Cooperation with all metropolitan and municipal committees of Kathmandu is crucial to managing HISSAN activities effectively.

The support of the district committee is vital in helping the metropolitan committee progress. Our focus remains on the welfare of students and institutions, and to encourage students, we are introducing three new types of scholarships—Umesh Shrestha Prativa Pruskhar, Madab Baral Prativa Purskhar, and Baburam Smiriti Puskhar. Additionally, we are conducting pre-board exams for grade 12 and preparing for grade 11 board exams. Various sports competitions, teacher and staff training programs, and collaboration between Central HISSAN and Kathmandu HISSAN are in the pipeline for the betterment of all members involved in this organization.

I extend my gratitude to all my friends and well-wishers for providing me with the opportunity to serve as the President of the Kathmandu Metropolitan committee. I am committed to doing my best, working towards the improvement of the organization, and dedicating my time to fruitful endeavors. Together, let’s embark on this journey of progress and transformation.
