Dr. Krishna Raj DC, Principal of Gurukul Academy situated in Ghorahi, Dang, has devoted nearly 40 years of his life to the noble profession of education. A substantial portion of his career has been devoted to teaching, specifically at Padmodaya School as both teacher and Headmaster, where he has been an integral part of the faculty for approximately 25 years. Throughout his long and fruitful journey, Dr. Krishna Raj DC has been deeply involved in shaping the minds of students and nurturing their intellectual growth. Having the experiences of both government and private schools, can you highlight the distinctions in the management systems between these two types of educational institutions?

Government schools receive substantial funding and support from the government, aiming to provide education to a large number of economically disadvantaged students. These schools have commendable educational standards, and the teachers demonstrate a high level of commitment and proficiency in their teaching methods. However, the primary hindrance to the optimal development of government schools lies in the pervasive issues of corruption and nepotism that exist within their management systems. These detrimental practices can divert resources and hinder the efficient allocation of funds, ultimately affecting the overall growth and improvement of the schools. On the other hand, private schools operate under a different set of dynamics. They are bound by strict rules and regulations that are enforced diligently, as any violation may result in severe consequences, including the loss of their jobs or closure of the institution. With a responsibility to attract parents and students, private schools are driven to maintain high standards of education and overall performance. This often leads to a greater emphasis on accountability, efficiency, and effective management practices, as they need to consistently meet the expectations of their stakeholders. In summary, while government schools receive significant efforts and financial investments, the prevalence of corruption and nepotism can impede their progress. Private schools, driven by the need to adhere to regulations and meet the demands of parents and students, tend to prioritize effective management practices and are accountable for the quality of education they provide.

What are the upcoming schemes and initiatives you are developing with the aim of enhancing the popularity of Gurukul Academy in the future?

Gurukul Academy boasts a name that carries a sense of beauty and prestige. Our institution is committed to providing a holistic educational experience to our students. To achieve this, we have implemented a diverse range of outdoor activities and programs that contribute to their overall development. Moreover, recognizing the importance of extracurricular engagement, we offer opportunities for students to participate in swimming and various other activities beyond the regular curriculum. In an effort to instill cultural appreciation and expand their knowledge, we have introduced the teaching of English, Nepali, and Sanskrit from the initial grades. This approach enables students to not only develop language skills but also gain insights into different cultures and subjects. By integrating cultural education into the curriculum, we aim to broaden their perspectives and foster a deep understanding of their heritage and traditions. Is it necessary for students to move to Kathmandu for higher education?

Absolutely not. There is no requirement for students to relocate to Kathmandu for higher education. The quality of education provided in our city is on par with that of the capital. In fact, we offer comprehensive counseling services to our students, guiding them on career choices and personal development. Our school's primary objective is to foster the personal growth and development of our students. We believe that education goes beyond academics and encompasses the overall well-being of students. Along with providing quality education, we prioritize supporting their personal development by offering counseling services. Our dedicated team of counselors assists students in making informed decisions about their future careers, helping them identify their strengths and interests. This caution is due to the potential negative consequences that may arise if expectations are not met, leading students to make harmful choices. Therefore, it is crucial for students to possess qualities such as hard work, diligence, and patience. These attributes enable them to persevere through challenges and setbacks, fostering personal growth and learning. By striking a balance between realistic expectations and unwavering dedication, students can cultivate a resilient mindset that promotes both success and well-being.
