Private schools are navigating a complex educational landscape.  The recent shift towards teaching social studies in Nepali in government schools has presented an unexpected hurdle.  Many private school students, accustomed to English-language instruction, struggle with Nepali, impacting their social studies performance.  The potential for a similar shift in science and math instruction to English in government institutions could further exacerbate these challenges.

Compounding this issue is a growing shortage of qualified science and math teachers, fueled by the increasing trend of student emigration.  To ensure a balanced and successful educational system, the government needs to adopt a forward-thinking and inclusive approach in its policy decisions.

To level the playing field, public schools are incorporating elements traditionally associated with private schools, like English-medium instruction. However, this raises the question: Does fluency in English remain the paramount metric for gauging educational quality in a globalized world?
