The convention scheduled for Poush 20 encompasses two pivotal components: the selection of a new leader and the formulation of policies essential for the organization’s advancement. The significance of choosing a leader lies in the profound impact their activities can have on the entire institution. Consequently, appointing the president of HISSAN Kathmandu is deemed the most vital and challenging task. The inaugural president, Nawaraj Pandey, and subsequent leaders, including Dr. Swagat Shrestha, have substantially elevated the stature of HISSAN Kathmandu, establishing trust in its ability to lead. It is imperative for the new president to not only uphold this legacy but also strive to enhance and elevate the institute. To achieve this, the leader must embody qualities such as activeness, knowledge, experience, and a commitment of time.

The noteworthy contributions of past presidents, many of whom currently hold high posts in central HISSAN, underscore the fair judgment exercised by the organization. The incoming leader must continue this legacy and recognize the significant role HISSAN Kathmandu plays in terms of legacy, policy-making, and leading the entire education system. The educational changes and trends initiated in Kathmandu often serve as a model for the world, emphasizing the need for the leader to positively influence the education system in the region. Moreover, the inclusion of municipalities as members, a first in HISSAN’s history, adds to the organization’s responsibilities.

In my perspective, given that HISSAN is a volunteer organization, decisions should ideally be reached unanimously, considering the candidate’s experience, skills, and interest. While democratic processes become necessary in the event of potential unfair judgments, the proud history of HISSAN suggests that elections may not be required. I express gratitude to College Readers for their valuable contributions to the education field.
