What are the possible way out for the issues faced in higher education?

To enhance higher education in Nepal, several key steps must be taken. Revising the Education Act and policies is essential, considering the lack of progress despite discussions about reform since 2072 BS. The involvement of organizations like HISSAN is crucial, as they can collaborate with stakeholders and advocate for necessary changes. Building parental trust is vital, requiring transparent communication and showcasing success stories. Strengthening the connection between universities and research is also important through curriculum integration and project-based learning. This bridges the gap between academic knowledge and practical skills. Universities should establish research-focused environments, fostering collaboration and intellectual curiosity. Addressing legislative gaps, involving educational associations, and emphasizing research-centered learning can lead to significant improvements in higher education, benefiting both students and societal progress in Nepal.

What measures can be taken to create a conducive study environment for students within our country, discouraging the flow of study abroad hopefuls?

A significant proportion of students, including those pursuing bachelor's, plus two, or master's degrees, have a prevailing trend of seeking education abroad. This pattern raises concerns, particularly when approximately one-fourth of plus two students opt for studying abroad. However, upon closer examination, it becomes evident that students' motivations revolve around the desire for a secure life, financial stability, happiness, and comfort. To address this issue, it becomes imperative for us to take on the responsibility of instilling trust in our country's schools and education system. We must actively work towards creating an environment that nurtures and supports students, assuring them that they can obtain a quality education without having to go abroad. One crucial aspect is enhancing the overall quality of education in our country. This can be achieved by investing in infrastructure, improving teaching methodologies, and upgrading educational resources. By providing modern facilities, well-equipped classrooms, libraries, laboratories, and technology, we can create an environment that is on par with international standards. Moreover, fostering a culture of innovation and research within our educational institutions is essential. Encouraging faculty and students to engage in research projects, collaborative studies, and practical applications of knowledge will not only enhance the learning experience but also demonstrate the potential for academic growth within our country. In addition, it is crucial to develop strong industry-academia partnerships. By aligning educational curricula with the needs and demands of the job market, we can ensure that students are equipped with relevant skills and knowledge. This will boost their confidence in finding rewarding career opportunities within the country after completing their studies. Furthermore, promoting entrepreneurship and creating a supportive ecosystem for startups and business ventures can also contribute to retaining talented individuals within our country. By encouraging students to explore their entrepreneurial aspirations and providing them with the necessary resources and mentorship, we can create opportunities for them to build successful ventures and contribute to the growth of our nation. Lastly, actively promoting success stories and achievements of individuals who have excelled in their respective fields within our country can serve as an inspiration for students. Highlighting the accomplishments of renowned professionals, scientists, artists, and entrepreneurs will help shift the perception that success can only be achieved by going abroad. By collectively working on these initiatives, we can create an environment in our country that inspires confidence in students, showcases the potential of our education system, and dissuades the prevalent trend of studying abroad.

What steps can HISSAN take to regain the quality of education that has been declining in recent years?

The aftereffect of the pandemic has witnessed a significant decline in the number of students opting for the Science stream, primarily due to weaknesses in mathematics. Furthermore, schools are striving to increase enrollment but often overlook the crucial aspect of enhancing the quality of education. In order to improve the quality of education, particularly in the fields of technology and mathematics, it is imperative to prioritize these subjects rather than treating mathematics as an optional subject. To address this issue, HISSAN can take several steps. Firstly, they can collaborate with educational institutions and curriculum developers to revise and enhance the mathematics curriculum. This can involve incorporating practical applications, real-life problem-solving, and interactive teaching methods to make mathematics more engaging and relevant to students.

Furthermore, HISSAN can facilitate professional development programs and workshops for mathematics teachers. These programs can focus on enhancing their pedagogical skills, updating their knowledge of innovative teaching methodologies, and providing them with the necessary resources and support to effectively teach mathematics. By equipping teachers with the tools and techniques to make mathematics more accessible and interesting, the overall quality of mathematics education can be significantly improved.

Additionally, HISSAN can promote the use of technology in mathematics education. By encouraging schools to integrate educational technology tools and resources into their teaching practices, students can benefit from interactive simulations, online tutorials, and digital platforms that enhance their understanding and problem-solving abilities in mathematics. Moreover, HISSAN can initiate awareness campaigns to highlight the importance and potential career prospects in the fields of technology and mathematics. By showcasing success stories of individuals who have excelled in these areas, students can be inspired and motivated to pursue these subjects, leading to an increased interest and enrollment in the Science stream. Lastly, HISSAN can establish partnerships with industry experts and professionals in technology and mathematics. By fostering collaborations between educational institutions and industry leaders, students can gain exposure to real-world applications, internships, and mentorship programs, thereby bridging the gap between academia and industry and preparing them for future careers in these fields.

By implementing these measures, HISSAN can contribute to retaining the declining quality of education in technology and mathematics. By addressing weaknesses, enhancing teaching methodologies, incorporating technology, raising awareness, and fostering industry collaborations, the educational landscape can be revitalized, empowering students to excel in these vital subjects and contributing to the overall development of the nation.

What could be the reason that some colleges get abundant students and others struggle for subsistence? Besides, the quota system has affected some colleges a lot. Why HISSAN couldn't take a consistent decision on it?

The size of a college's student population should not be used as a sole determinant of the quality of education it offers. While a large number of students may create the perception of popularity or demand for a college, it does not guarantee that the education provided is of high quality. The quality of education depends on various factors, including the expertise and qualifications of the faculty members, the curriculum design, the availability of resources and facilities, and the overall learning environment. These aspects play a crucial role in shaping the educational experience and the level of academic excellence within a college. Ultimately, the quality of education is not solely determined by the number of students enrolled but by the commitment of the college to providing a well-rounded and rigorous academic program. It is important for students and parents to consider various factors beyond student enrollment numbers, such as accreditation, faculty qualifications, alumni success, and the overall reputation of the institution. By taking a comprehensive approach to evaluating the quality of education, individuals can make more informed decisions about the colleges they choose to pursue their academic goals.

Lastly, what message do you want to convey to SEE graduates?

First and foremost, I would like to extend my best wishes to all students. This is a time for you to not only learn new skills and knowledge but also to frame the journey. It is important to remember that the results of your efforts should not be a source of excessive stress or anxiety. Instead, focus on the process of learning and personal growth. After receiving your results, seek guidance and counseling from elders, parents, and teachers. Their wisdom and experience can provide valuable insights and help you make informed decisions about your future academic and career paths. Engaging in discussions with them can help alleviate any uncertainties and guide you towards the right direction. Avoid getting caught up in the pressure of peers or the fear of missing out. While it is natural to seek guidance from friends, it is equally important to think independently and make decisions that align with your own goals and aspirations. Take the time to reflect on your own interests, strengths, and passions. Consider your long-term vision and evaluate the options that best align with your personal growth and fulfillment. Remember, there is no need to panic. Embrace a calm and composed mindset. Understand that results do not define your worth or potential. They are merely a reflection of your performance at a particular point in time. Focus on continuous improvement and strive to do your best in every endeavor.

Make wise and conscious decisions based on careful consideration and evaluation. Assess the available options and weigh the pros and cons before making any commitments. Seek advice from trusted mentors, explore different opportunities, and choose the path that resonates with your values and aspirations. Above all, enjoy this period of transition and growth. Embrace new experiences, make lasting memories, and stay optimistic about the future. With the right mindset and a thoughtful approach, you can navigate this phase of your life with confidence and pave the way for a successful and fulfilling journey ahead.
