The Institute of Engineering(IOE), founded in 1930  (1987/11/19BS) as Nepal’s first technical school and reformed to present shape  in 1972,  is producing outstanding  engineering technicians and engineers for more than 80 years. The tradition of excellence  in the IOE is further intensifying in the course of time. IOE is also becoming  more and more responsive to the ever-changing needs of the students and the  engineering profession.   The Insti... See More

About College

Under Tribhuvan University there are various faculties and institutes. Institute of engineering is one of the Institute of Tribhuvan University. Under the Institute of Engineering, there are four constituent campuses and ten private colleges. Pulchowk Campus is the central campus of the Institute of Engineering. It was established in 1972 (2029 B.S) as one of the constituent campuses of the Institute of Engineering and is situated at the heart of the Lalitpur city at Pulchowk. Initially, it was started for the production of trade level manpower to fulfill the nation’s need in the field of Engineering. Pulchowk campus offered diploma level (intermediate level with three years duration) courses in various engineering disciplines since 1973 (2030 BS) but diploma level courses are phased out now. Pulchowk campus has been offering bachelor’s degree courses in various engineering disciplines since 1984 (2041 BS).

Till 1984 Pulchowk Campus was involved in producing low to middle-level engineering manpower in the field of Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Architecture. Realizing the national and global demand gradually the country felt a need of engineering manpower in higher level. As a result, four years of bachelor level course in Civil Engineering was introduced in 1984. Gradually, bachelors in Electrical Engineering and Bachelors in Electronics Engineering were started from 1994 (2051 BS), bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and Architecture were started from 1995 (2052 BS) and bachelors in Computer Engineering was started from 1998 (2055 BS). All these Bachelors in Engineering (BE) programs were introduced for the first time in Nepal.

Currently, Pulchowk Campus offers bachelors courses, master’s courses, and Ph. D. programs in different areas of engineering. This campus is well equipped with necessary laboratories with great strength of faculties and staffs, separate buildings for academic and administrative purposes has become the center of excellence of engineering education in Nepal.

Pulchowk Campus has been awarded the “Best Constituent Campus Award” by Nepal Government, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in 2019.

Course Description

Electrical engineering is a field of engineering that generally deals with the study and application of electricityelectronics, and electromagnetism. This field first became an identifiable occupation in the later half of the 19th century after commercialization of the electric telegraph, the telephone, and electric power distribution and use. Subsequently, broadcasting and recording media made electronics part of daily life. The invention of the transistor, and later the integrated circuit, brought down the cost of electronics to the point they can be used in almost any household object.

Course Description

Computer engineering is a discipline that integrates several fields of electrical engineering and computer science required to develop computer hardware and software.[1] Computer engineers usually have training in electronic engineering (or electrical engineering), software design, and hardware–software integration instead of only software engineering or electronic engineering. Computer engineers are involved in many hardware and software aspects of computing, from the design of individual microcontrollersmicroprocessors, personal computers, and supercomputers, to circuit design. This field of engineering not only focuses on how computer systems themselves work, but also how they integrate into the larger picture.[2]

Usual tasks involving computer engineers include writing software and firmware for embedded microcontrollers, designing VLSI chips, designing analog sensors, designing mixed signal circuit boards, and designing operating systems. Computer engineers are also suited for robotics research, which relies heavily on using digital systems to control and monitor electrical systems like motorscommunications, and sensors.

Course Description

Architecture is both the process and the product of planningdesigning, and constructing buildings or any other structures.[3] Architectural works, in the material form of buildings, are often perceived as cultural symbols and as works of art. Historical civilizations are often identified with their surviving architectural achievements.
